Warranty Policy

Effective Date: August 2026

At Universal Containers LLC, we provide warranty coverage based on the type, condition, specifications, and intended use of the container or modular unit purchased.

Because new, used, and modified containers have different characteristics, warranty coverage may vary by product.

This policy explains the applicable warranty periods, covered conditions, exclusions, and claim process.

1. Warranty Coverage

Warranty coverage, when provided, begins on the date the product is delivered to the customer unless a different starting date is expressly stated in the applicable purchase agreement.

Coverage may vary depending on whether the product is:

  • New / One-Trip
  • Used
  • Wind & Watertight (WWT)
  • Cargo Worthy
  • Modified
  • Custom or Prefabricated

The specific warranty applicable to a product will be determined by its product description, purchase agreement, invoice, or other written documentation provided by Universal Containers LLC.

2. New / One-Trip Containers

Standard Warranty Period

12 months from the delivery date, unless otherwise stated in writing.

Coverage May Include

Subject to the applicable product terms, coverage may include:

  • Structural frame integrity
  • Container walls
  • Roof structure
  • Base structure
  • Corner castings
  • Door operation
  • Locking mechanisms
  • Wind and watertight performance under normal use

Exclusions

The warranty does not normally cover:

  • Minor dents
  • Scratches
  • Paint wear or fading
  • Normal surface oxidation
  • Cosmetic imperfections
  • Normal aging
  • Damage caused by improper unloading
  • Damage caused by improper handling
  • Damage caused by relocation
  • Damage resulting from an inadequate foundation
  • Damage resulting from unstable ground
  • Damage caused by unauthorized modifications
  • Damage resulting from abnormal environmental conditions

3. Used Shipping Containers

Standard Warranty Period

90 days from the delivery date, unless a different warranty period is stated on the applicable product page, quotation, invoice, or purchase agreement.

Used containers naturally show evidence of previous use.

Coverage May Include

Where applicable, warranty coverage may address:

  • Structural usability
  • Wind and watertight condition at delivery when specifically advertised as WWT
  • Door functionality
  • Significant functional defects that were not disclosed before purchase

Used Container Exclusions

The warranty does not normally cover:

  • Existing dents
  • Scratches
  • Surface rust
  • Paint fading
  • Cosmetic wear
  • Previous repair marks
  • Flooring wear consistent with prior use
  • Conditions disclosed before purchase
  • Normal deterioration after delivery
  • Damage resulting from customer use or handling

The warranty is intended to address covered functional or structural issues, not normal cosmetic characteristics of used equipment.

4. Cargo Worthy Containers

Where a container is specifically sold as Cargo Worthy, the applicable condition and documentation will be based on the individual container.

Warranty coverage does not automatically mean that a container retains any particular certification indefinitely.

Customers who require a container for active transportation should verify applicable certification and inspection requirements before use.

5. Wind & Watertight Containers

Where a product is specifically advertised as Wind & Watertight (WWT), the applicable condition refers to its ability to provide protection from normal wind and rain at the relevant point of sale or delivery, subject to the product description and applicable warranty terms.

Warranty coverage does not extend to water ingress caused after delivery by:

  • Customer modifications
  • Damage
  • Relocation
  • Improper door operation
  • Structural alterations
  • Environmental events
  • Failure to maintain the container

6. Modified & Custom Containers

Standard Warranty Period

Modified or custom containers may carry a separate warranty period specified in the applicable quotation or purchase agreement.

Unless otherwise stated, eligible installed modifications may be covered for 6 months from delivery.

Coverage May Include

Depending on the project, coverage may apply to:

  • Structural modifications performed by Universal Containers LLC
  • Installed doors
  • Installed windows
  • Structural framing
  • Installed insulation systems
  • Other components specifically identified in the purchase agreement

Exclusions

Coverage does not normally include:

  • Customer modifications
  • Third-party modifications
  • Unauthorized electrical work
  • Unauthorized plumbing work
  • Altered finishing systems
  • Misuse
  • Overloading
  • Improper installation
  • Damage caused by relocation
  • Environmental damage
  • Normal wear from occupancy or continuous use

Specific warranty terms for custom projects will be provided before the order is finalized.

8. Intended Use

Warranty coverage applies only to the intended and reasonable use of the product.

Customers are responsible for determining whether a container is suitable for their specific application.

Examples include:

  • Storage
  • Cargo transportation

  • Order number
  • Invoice number, if available
  • Delivery date
  • Container identification number, if available
  • Description of the issue
  • Date the issue was discovered
  • Photographs or videos
  • Supporting documentation

The more information provided, the faster we may be able to evaluate the claim.

10. Claim Review

Our team may evaluate the issue against:

  • Original product specifications
  • Product condition
  • Applicable warranty terms
  • Delivery condition
  • Customer photographs
  • Order documentation
  • Inspection information
  • Intended use

Remote inspection may be sufficient in some cases.

Universal Containers LLC may request an on-site inspection where necessary.

11. Warranty Resolution

If a valid warranty claim is confirmed, Universal Containers LLC may determine an appropriate resolution based on the nature of the issue.

Possible resolutions include:

Repair

A qualified repair may be arranged when practical.

Replacement Component

Where appropriate, individual components may be replaced.

Examples include:

  • Door hardware
  • Door seals
  • Locking components
  • Other covered components

Replacement Container

If the issue cannot reasonably be repaired, Universal Containers LLC may offer a replacement container of comparable specification, subject to availability.

Partial Refund

A partial refund may be considered where the customer retains the product and the circumstances support a partial adjustment.

Full Refund

A full refund may be considered when a covered issue cannot reasonably be repaired or replaced and the applicable circumstances justify such resolution.

12. Warranty Inspection

Universal Containers LLC may require an inspection before approving a warranty claim.

Customers should not:

  • Dismantle the container
  • Make structural repairs
  • Modify the affected area
  • Hire a third party to perform major repairs

without first contacting us, unless immediate action is necessary to prevent injury or further property damage.

Unauthorized repairs may affect warranty eligibility.

13. Customer Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for:

  • Proper use of the container
  • Appropriate site preparation
  • Proper placement
  • Routine care
  • Protecting the container from avoidable damage
  • Complying with applicable regulations
  • Reporting covered issues promptly
  • Avoiding unauthorized modifications

14. Warranty Transferability

Unless otherwise stated in writing, warranty coverage applies only to the original purchaser.

Warranty coverage is generally not transferable following:

  • Resale
  • Donation
  • Assignment
  • Transfer of ownership

15. Relationship With Other Policies

This Warranty Policy should be read together with our:

  • Terms & Conditions
  • Refund & Return Policy
  • Delivery Policy
  • Payment Policy
  • Certification & Safety Policy
  • Privacy Policy

Where a product-specific warranty provides different terms, the product-specific warranty or written purchase agreement may control for that particular transaction.

16. No Blanket Certification Guarantee

A warranty does not automatically guarantee that a container:

  • Is CSC certified
  • Is Cargo Worthy
  • Is Wind & Watertight
  • Meets every ISO requirement
  • Is suitable for international transportation

Certification and condition classifications are specific to the individual container and intended application.

Customers requiring a particular certification should confirm the applicable documentation before purchasing.

17. Warranty Limitations

To the extent permitted by applicable law, warranty coverage is limited to the specific product and covered conditions described in the applicable warranty documentation.

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude or limit any warranty, consumer right, or legal protection that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
