Return and Refunds Policy

Effective Date: August 2026

At Universal Containers LLC, we understand that purchasing a shipping container is a significant investment. We strive to provide accurate product descriptions, specifications, condition information, pricing, and delivery details so customers can make informed purchasing decisions.

This Refund & Return Policy explains when a container may qualify for a return, replacement, or refund and how customers can submit a claim.

1. Return Eligibility

Return Request Period

Customers must contact Universal Containers LLC regarding a potential return or product discrepancy within 30 days of delivery, unless a different period is specifically stated in the applicable purchase agreement or product terms.

The return period allows sufficient time for customers to inspect the container and identify material discrepancies.

2. Eligible Return Circumstances

A return may be considered when the delivered container materially differs from the product or specifications agreed upon at the time of purchase.

Examples may include:

  • Incorrect container size
  • Incorrect container type
  • Incorrect configuration
  • Materially different condition from the condition advertised or agreed upon
  • Significant structural issues that were not disclosed before purchase
  • Certification documentation discrepancies where a specific certification was expressly included in the order
  • A materially different product from the one identified on the order confirmation

Each request will be reviewed against the original order, product description, invoice, photographs, specifications, and applicable documentation.

3. Non-Eligible Returns

A return may not be approved when the issue results from conditions that were disclosed, expected, or caused after delivery.

Examples include:

  • Normal cosmetic wear on used containers
  • Surface rust consistent with the advertised condition
  • Minor dents or scratches disclosed before purchase
  • Changes made to the container after delivery
  • Modifications or alterations performed by the customer or a third party
  • Relocation of the container after delivery
  • Damage caused by improper handling
  • Damage caused by site conditions
  • Damage caused by weather or environmental exposure after delivery
  • Purchases made under clearly stated “as-is” terms
  • Failure to obtain required local permits or approvals
  • Change of mind after delivery
  • Failure to prepare an appropriate delivery or installation site

Used shipping containers naturally may have cosmetic imperfections resulting from prior use, transportation, and handling.

4. Custom & Modified Containers

Custom-built or modified containers require special consideration.

Because these products may be manufactured or modified according to a customer’s specifications, they may not be eligible for return simply because the customer changes their mind.

However, Universal Containers LLC will review claims involving:

  • Incorrect specifications
  • Manufacturing errors
  • Material defects
  • Significant discrepancies from the agreed design
  • Structural issues attributable to the modification work

Any special return conditions for a custom or modified product will be communicated before the order is finalized.

6. Return Review Process

Once a return request is received, our team may review:

  • Original order details
  • Product specifications
  • Product condition at the time of sale
  • Photographs
  • Delivery records
  • Certification documentation, where applicable
  • Customer-provided evidence
  • Applicable purchase terms

Additional photographs, documentation, or an inspection may be requested when necessary.

In certain circumstances, Universal Containers LLC may arrange or request an independent inspection.

7. Return Approval

If a return is approved, Universal Containers LLC will provide instructions regarding collection or return arrangements.

Customers should not independently transport or dispose of a container before receiving return authorization.

The container may need to remain in substantially the same condition as when delivered, except where the claimed issue itself affects the condition.

8. Collection & Return Transportation

For an approved return, Universal Containers LLC will communicate the applicable collection or transportation arrangements.

Depending on the reason for the return, responsibility for return transportation and associated costs may vary.

Unless the issue is determined to result from an error, defect, or material discrepancy attributable to Universal Containers LLC, delivery, collection, handling, lifting, or transportation charges may not be refundable.

9. Replacement Containers

Where appropriate, Universal Containers LLC may offer a replacement container instead of a refund.

A replacement may be considered when:

  • The delivered container does not match the agreed specifications
  • A material defect is confirmed
  • The incorrect container was delivered
  • A suitable replacement is available

Replacement availability depends on current inventory.

A replacement may be of the same or substantially equivalent specification unless otherwise agreed.

10. Refunds

When a refund is approved, the amount will depend on the circumstances of the return and the condition of the container.

Full Refund

A full refund may be considered when:

  • The wrong product was delivered
  • The product materially differs from the agreed specifications
  • A significant undisclosed structural issue affects basic usability
  • Another material error attributable to Universal Containers LLC is confirmed

Partial Refund

A partial refund may be considered when:

  • The customer retains the container despite a verified discrepancy
  • A limited issue is identified and both parties agree to a partial adjustment
  • Other circumstances warrant a partial resolution

No Refund

A refund may not be available when:

  • The return request falls outside the applicable return period
  • The condition matches the product description and agreed classification
  • The container has been modified after delivery
  • The container has been relocated or materially altered
  • Damage occurred after delivery
  • The purchase was expressly made on an “as-is” basis
  • The issue results from site conditions or improper use

11. Refund Processing

Approved refunds will generally be initiated after the return or claim has been reviewed and any required inspection has been completed.

Where practical, refunds will be issued using the original payment method.

The time required for the funds to appear in the customer’s account may depend on the payment processor, bank, or financial institution.

Unless otherwise required by applicable law or agreed in writing, approved refunds are generally processed within 7–10 business days after final refund approval.

12. Non-Refundable Costs

Unless the issue is determined to result from an error or verified discrepancy attributable to Universal Containers LLC, the following may not be refundable:

  • Original delivery charges
  • Return transportation
  • Specialized placement services
  • Crane or lifting services
  • Site preparation
  • Storage charges
  • Installation costs
  • Customization or modification costs
  • Permit fees
  • Third-party services

The applicable costs will depend on the specific order and circumstances.

13. Damaged Containers Upon Delivery

Customers should inspect their container as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

If you believe the container has been damaged during transportation or that the delivered unit differs materially from what was ordered:

  1. Take clear photographs of the container and damage.
  2. Record the container identification number, if available.
  3. Contact Universal Containers LLC promptly.
  4. Provide your order or invoice information.
  5. Do not modify or repair the container before our team has reviewed the claim unless immediate action is necessary for safety.

Prompt reporting helps us investigate delivery-related claims efficiently.

14. Container Condition & Used Equipment

Used containers may have normal signs of previous use.

Depending on the condition classification, customers may encounter:

  • Minor dents
  • Scratches
  • Surface rust
  • Paint fading
  • Previous repair marks
  • Flooring wear
  • Cosmetic imperfections

These characteristics do not automatically constitute a defect or qualify a container for return when they are consistent with the advertised condition.

Customers should carefully review the product description and ask questions before purchasing if they require a particular cosmetic or structural condition.

15. Delivery & Site Responsibility

Customers are responsible for ensuring that their delivery location is suitable for container placement.

This may include providing:

  • Adequate access
  • Sufficient clearance
  • Suitable ground conditions
  • Appropriate placement space
  • Necessary permits
  • Compliance with local zoning and building requirements

Damage or additional costs resulting from unsuitable site conditions may not qualify for a refund.

16. Order Cancellations Before Delivery

Cancellation requests made before delivery may be reviewed based on the status of the order.

Orders involving:

  • Custom modifications
  • Special procurement
  • Dedicated transportation
  • Non-standard configurations
  • Third-party services

may have cancellation restrictions or non-refundable costs.

Customers should contact our sales team as soon as possible if they need to cancel an order.

17. Fraudulent or Unauthorized Transactions

If you believe your payment method was used without authorization, contact your financial institution and Universal Containers LLC immediately.

We may request documentation necessary to investigate the transaction.

18. Fair & Transparent Resolution

Our goal is to resolve legitimate product and delivery concerns fairly and efficiently.

Every claim is evaluated based on:

Accuracy

What was ordered and what was delivered.

Documentation

The product description, invoice, specifications, photographs, and applicable agreements.

Condition

The condition of the container at delivery and when the claim is made.

Practical Resolution

Where appropriate, we may provide a replacement, repair-related solution, partial refund, or full refund depending on the circumstances.
